Order Book L2 — how to read the depth of the market

Order Book L2 shows visible orders waiting for next price levels. This allows you to evaluate the current depth, asymmetry of bid/asc and potential cost of execution of a larger order.

Order Book L2 shows visible orders waiting at subsequent price levels. This allows to evaluate the current depth, asymmetry of bid/asc and potential cost of execution of a larger order. In market analysis, the most important is the repetitive method: first context, then evidence and at the end of the performance conditions. A single observation may draw attention to the market, but should not replace the full process.

01

What Is Really Worth Watching

The most important is not the sum of orders, but their distribution and stability over time. The market tiles with a large gap between levels can move rapidly even with moderate flow. It is not about finding one number that settles the situation but about understanding the mechanism and conditions in which the information becomes useful.

02

How to Read It in Practice

Analyze several ranges from price, e.g. 10, 25 and 50 basis points. Compare depth with turnover and spread and see if big orders remain in place during movement. It is worth saving the criteria before movement and after time to check if they were actually met. Only then can you distinguish a useful signal from a story matched to the fact and improve the process based on data.

03

Most common error

The error is to assume that all visible orders are true intent. Some can be cancelled and some liquidity is hidden. L2 shows an important part of the market, but never the whole picture. The greater volatility and pressure of time, the easier it is to confuse interesting observation with advantage. Therefore, the condition for nullification, data quality and entry costs should be determined before the decision is made.

How HOSTuvo incorporates this context into the process

HOSTuvo uses L2 to evaluate microstructure and cost. This data helps Entry Verifierto assess whether the setup is feasible, but not a standalone source of direction. HOSTuvo does not submit automatic orders and does not guarantee the result. Research layers are settled after time, and the new model must be validated before it obtains the production impact.
